Radar Licensing has announced initial license partners for its Hammer House of Horror merchandise program featuring Hammer Films’ Dracula, Frankenstein’s Creature, The Mummy, and other memorable monsters.

Hammer came to prominence as the world’s most popular horror brand in the late 1950s. The company’s unrivalled legacy is the bridge that connects Universal’s classic monsters to the contemporary horror classics that began in the 1970s. In the 21st century Hammer has continued to expand its extraordinary canon with new movies that have been both commercially successful and critically acclaimed.

Paste magazine included Hammer’s 1950s classics The Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula on their October 2020 list of “The 100 Best Horror Movies Of All Time”. Paste writes “if you were going to put together the ultimate, time-spanning Dracula film, you’d choose this version of the vampire, as played by the regal, intimidating Christopher Lee at the height of his powers. Horror of Dracula is simply a gorgeous movie, with lush, gothic settings—crypts, foggy graveyards, and stately manors—photographed with the Golden Age charm of Technicolor.”

Many people may have forgotten that Christopher Lee’s portrayal of Dracula not only established the character having fangs and wearing a black cape with a red lining but was also the first to present Dracula as a ferocious monster with sexual appeal.

Joining in the celebration are such stellar companies as NECA (wide range of toy figures), Sideshow (collectible statues), Merch Traffic (upper body apparel), Aquarius (playing cards, puzzles, fun boxes, ceramic mugs, magnets, posters, buttons), MEGO (MEGO figures), Mondo (limited edition prints), and Trick or Treat Studios (masks and 12″ collectible figures).

Radar Licensing President David Imhoff, who as head of licensing for New Line Cinema for 18 years was responsible for establishing Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface in the consumer product space, says he could not be more excited to be representing Hammer House of Horror on behalf of Hammer Films Ltd. and Aisle 19 Solutions.

“One of my favorite childhood memories is my 3rd-grade birthday party seeing a Hammer double bill that introduced me to Christopher Lee as Dracula. I was hooked right then and there on Hammer’s gothic horror universe and it certainly influenced my passion for horror films over my career. I’m also excited by the fact that so many wonderful companies, and horror fans worldwide, share my love of Hammer Horror films.”

Hammer House of Horror merchandise will begin hitting stores this month, with the full launch set for 2021.
