Dino Dana Heads to China
Canada’s Sinking Ship Entertainment (SSE) has announced today that its series Dino Dana will soon be available in China. Bomanbridge Media has licensed seasons one and two of the dinosaur adventure series to Chinese streaming platform Youku. The series will be available for streaming later this year.

“We are thrilled that Youku is bringing Dino Dina to China to spread the joy of education and curiosity,” Kate Sanagan, Sinking Ship’s Head of Sales and Distribution. “Dino Dana’s expansion to so many distinct markets is a clear reflection of the show’s high quality and its genuine and universal love for learning.”
“Bomanbridge is thrilled to yet again break through viewing barriers by placing this series with trusted partners such as Youku. Live-action series can be a difficult genre to place in China, but with our careful approach on excellent dubbing standards, and the series guarantee to offer a great script, character development and top-notch CGI, it was a clear choice in the streamer’s attempt to diversify the kids and family offering. We are happy to say that Dino Dana has proven to perform well all over Asia Pacific and is testimony to Sinking Ship’s excellent creative content,” says Sonia Fleck, CEO of Bomanbridge Media.

“This series has inspired countless children around the world to learn through discovery and play,” says John Ferri, VP of programming and content at TVO. “Dino Dana strikes a perfect balance between entertaining kids and helping them build skills that prepare them for school and life.”

Dino Dana, an Emmy Award-winning series created and directed by Sinking Ship’s J.J. Johnson, follows Dana, a 10-year-old girl who loves dinosaurs. Her life changes forever when she’s given a Dino Field Guide, which not only teaches her new things about dinosaurs, but gives her the power to imagine dinosaurs into real life. Developed as a follow-up to the Dino Dan series, it is produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, in association with TVOkids and Prime Video. The series premiered in 2017 and was followed by the theatrical release in June of 2020 of Dino Dana The Movie, produced for TVOkids and Prime Video with the participation of Téléfilm Canada, Shaw Rocket Fund and Ontario Creates. Dino Dana has won three Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Performer in a Children’s, Family Viewing or Special Class Program.

Seasons one and two of Dino Dana will be available for streaming on Youku, one of China’s top online video-sharing and streaming service platforms. Youku forms a key part of Alibaba Group’s digital media and entertainment business, and it covers PC, TV and mobile devices with its wide-ranging content that includes copyrighted content, co-produced content, in-house productions, user-generated content (UGC), professionally generated content (PGC) and live webcasts. The Dino Dana expansion to China comes on the heels of another big year for the franchise. Dino Dana also recently secured additional broadcast partners in Latin America, including Canal Once in Mexico as well as Senal Colombia and Canal Capital in Colombia.
