TEAM GB AND THE POINT.1888 RENEW LICENSING TO PARIS 2024

The countdown has begun to the biggest sporting event on the planet: next year, over 10,000 athletes from 206 nations will come together to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Team GB and The Point.1888 are thrilled to kick the countdown off with the renewal of their licensing and retail partnership following the delivery of a successful programme for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The past four years saw over 30 licensees sign up to work with Team GB, including Micro Scooter, Royal Mint, Brompton bikes, BDA, Dashel helmets, Nerdy Banana and Moonpig.

Hannah Redler, Director of Retail and Sport at Point.1888, said, “We are incredibly proud of the resilience and successes of the Tokyo 2020 licensing and retail programme and cannot wait to continue working alongside the fabulous group of people at Team GB, bringing on board market leading partners to help unite and inspire the nation through sport.”

With less than two years to go, a flurry of new partners are in the works, as well as key renewals with the likes of BDA, The Royal Mint, and Greensnow. An exciting new partnership between Team GB and Fashion UK, a leading apparel, footwear, and accessories licensee, will offer a one-stop solution to retailers and cohesive family collections to consumers, while a new jewellery license with Mappin&Webb and new underwear license with Oddballs will offer even more ways for fans to get behind the nation’s most loved sports team.

Commenting on this key countdown beginning, Paul Ellis, Head of Licensing at Team GB, said: “This is always a huge moment for our team of athletes: preparations are ramping up to the next level, and the support from The Point.1888 and from our UK licensees and retailers is more important than ever. The run up to Paris 2024 is going to be really exciting, and we’ll shortly be unveiling some new licensing assets that will take this programme to the next level. We look forward to bringing fans along for the journey at what is set to be an incredible event.”

As with all of Team GB’s relationships, the intention of this collaboration is to drive awareness, build support for the team and generate income to reinvest into the continued success of Team GB. This will be highlighted in an upcoming brand summit in the new year, run by Team GB and The Point.1888.
