Princess Sam Consumer Products appoints Empire Multimedia Corporation as agent

Princess Sam Consumer Products (PSCP) has announced that it has appointed a licensing agent for the children’s animated adventure-comedy-fantasy hit Tara Duncan in multiple territories across the Asia-Pacific region.

EMC Empire Multimedia Corporation, a leading marketing and licensing company in Asia specializing in character licensing and content brand management, will handle licensing for this fast-growing property in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Founded in the Philippines, by Hubert S Co, who has run the company since its inception, Empire has been in the licensing business for more than 30 years, making it one of the pioneers of the industry in its region.

Empire was responsible for several firsts in the Philippines, including a direct-to-retail licensing agreement in the early 80s, attraction walks, multi-level marketing networks, and wireless licensing. Its client properties cover a wide range that includes animation, character, movie and entertainment brands, as well as fashion and lifestyle and art and design brands.

This appointment is another major boost for this fast-growing property. The Tara Duncan campaign has already appointed bRAND-WARD Services to manage licensing for the property in the UK, Consumer Products Connection in Spain and Portugal, J&M in the Benelux region, IMC in multiple territories across Latin America and the Caribbean, and Maurizio Distefano Licensing (MDL) in Italy. To further promote broadcast growth, the Princess Sam Entertainment Group recently appointed major international distribution company Superights as global distributor for Tara Duncan. Superights will represent worldwide rights distribution, except in Mainland China.

First published in 2003, tens of millions of Tara Duncan books have been sold worldwide. The animated 52 x 13’ series launched in 2022; total sales of the first series now exceed 80 countries. A second season, with 52 new episodes, is currently in production, with plans to produce 2 x 26’ special episodes. A digital ecosystem is also being developed to expand Tara’s universe and to delight the Tara fans – known as ‘Taraddicts’.

Tara Duncan is the exciting story of an ordinary girl from Earth with extraordinary powers who discovers she is heir to the throne of the Meme empire. She soon finds herself on OtherWorld, a magical planet where she makes new friends and tries to thwart the ambitions of the evil Magister who wants to steal her magic and conquer her new home.

As Tara Duncan brand awareness grows, Head of Licensing for PSCP Laurent Taieb is bringing more than thirty years of proven operational experience in all aspects of consumer products and licensing to the Tara Duncan licensing campaign.

PSCP is launching its own range of figurines, playsets and dolls at retail in France from autumn this year, thanks to its French distributor WTT. More territories are to follow soon. The Tara Duncan licensing campaign has also awarded a licence in the French market to toy company tonies. Along with toys and games, other categories being targeted by the growing network of agents include back to school, stationery, home textiles, apparel, fashion accessories, beauty & personal care, food & beverage, and gifts.

Hubert S Co, President, EMC, says “Resilience, commitment and love for what we do are the reasons why we are still successful after 30 years. Empire has been home to many major brands and plans to work with many more as we all move forward. That’s why we’re delighted that PSCP has chosen EMC to manage licensing for Tara Duncan, a brand with massive potential in all our target markets.”

Laurent Taieb adds: “With more than three decades’ experience in highly relevant brands, EMC is an ideal partner for the Tara Duncan licensing campaign. Together we aim to build on the enormous popularity of the Tara Duncan series by supporting this exciting brand in a number of key markets.”
