Yu-Gi-Oh! Teams with Pollo Campero Chicken Franchises for QSR Kids Meal Promotion in Central America

On the heels of a successful collaboration with McDonald’s Corp. last year, Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. has announced a QSR promotion with Pollo Campero, the fast-growing, flavorful chicken franchise with some 275 fast-food restaurants located throughout Central America.
The announcement was made today at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas by Jennifer Coleman, Vice President, Licensing and Marketing at Konami Cross Media NY.
Steep in generations of family recipes, Pollo Campero is on track to further its position as a leading player in the fast-causal chicken restaurant industry, serving more than 280 million customers annually in the countries where it operates including the U.S. In fact, USA Today readers ranked its Campero’s famous fried and grilled chicken, with its bold and complex flavors, at near the top of its list in a Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Fast Food Fried Chicken last year.
For the Yu-Gi-Oh! QSR promotion, which kicks off in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Ecuador in July, customers can purchase a “Loncherita” (lunchbox) meal which comes with a Yu-Gi-Oh! figurine.
“Pollo Campero has a strong reputation for flavor, family values and community and is a perfect partner for Yu-Gi-Oh!” said Coleman. “Their restaurants provide a unique food experience that’s full of life and seasoned with a little zest. Plus, best of all, each scrumptious kids’ meal will feature its own Yu-Gi-Oh! inspired collectible toy.”
Konami Cross Media is working closely with Ping Solutions, the business marketing agency and strategy firm responsible for bringing promotional opportunities to Pollo Campero, on the development and execution of the Yu-Gi-Oh! fast-food promotion.
Pollo Campero was founded in Guatemala in 1971 and is the only Central American founded and family owned QSR chain and the largest in the region for over 50 years. With a clear strategy for future growth, Pollo Campero, part of CMI, is also expanding in the U.S. With over 100 outlets in the U.S., Pollo Campero opened its newest location in New York City’s iconic Penn Station which opened in February of this year. The chicken restaurant chain has a goal to expand its presence in the U.S. to 250 locations by 2027.
