Taiwan Content Island Brings Original IPs to Licensing Japan and Korea Character Licensing Fair

Taiwan Content Island, powered by TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency), is an initiative that helps Taiwan’s original IPs go global. Through regular participation in international licensing events such as Bologna Licensing Trade Fair / Kids, Licensing Japan and Korea Character Licensing Fair, it offers creators from Taiwan a chance to meet global buyers, agents, and partners — and to showcase the creative power of Taiwan to the world.
Each time, the selection of participating IPs is carried out strategically through a review committee made up of professionals from the target markets and Taiwanese industry experts. This ensures that the showcased brands are not only strong in creative value but also market-relevant, globally adaptable, and ready for international partnerships.
Taiwan Content Island isn’t just about being present — it’s about building access and opportunity. With additional showcases in markets like Thailand and Malaysia, and a dedicated Buyers’ Program at the Taiwan Creative Expo, the largest creative industry event in Taiwan, TAICCA provides international buyers a direct channel into Taiwan’s content industry — from understanding key trends to forming meaningful partnerships across Asia.
Upcoming: Licensing Japan & Korea Character Licensing Fair 2025
This year, Taiwan Content Island will present a curated lineup of IPs at Licensing Japan (July 2–4) and Korea Character Licensing Fair (July 17–20). Highlights include:
Ugly Rabbit
Ugly Rabbit is a humorous yet healing character that expresses the small struggles of everyday life in a way that resonates strongly with young audiences. Since its debut in 2016 on the LINE Creators Market, it has ranked among LINE’s Top 5 sticker sales multiple times. Brand collaborations include UNIQLO, Citibank, and RhinoShield, and its growing digital presence is backed by loyal fans and strong engagement.

Takokuma
Takokuma is a warm and positively themed character that promotes friendship and self-identity through its storytelling. With successful brand partnerships in Japan and China — including Korokoro capsule toys and an apparel collaboration with See You at Pizza — the brand is steadily expanding across Asia. In 2024, Takokuma received the TCCF SEA Award, which opened new opportunities in Malaysia and further highlighted its cross-border appeal.

Shark Boy Universe
Designed by well-known creator Momoco, Shark Boy Universe blends cute animal forms with imaginative storytelling rooted in nature and fantasy. Foufou Bunny
Foufou is a 20-year-old character brand known for combining cute visuals with honest — and at times philosophical — reflections on everyday life. With more than 1,000 developed products and active licensing across Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and Europe, the brand continues to grow its influence. It is now represented by Muse Communication, one of Taiwan’s most established agencies in animation and IP licensing.

BOUNCE
BOUNCE is Taiwan’s leading graffiti artist turned global brand. With bold visual identity and high-recognition characters, BOUNCE has participated in international art festivals and held solo exhibitions. The brand has strong traction in Japan and Hong Kong and is known for transforming street art into consumer goods, fashion, and spatial installations — a strong match for trend-driven markets.

Why Taiwanese IPs Stand Out
Taiwanese IPs stand out for their unique characters, compelling narratives, and relatable settings. These stories often blend emotional depth with a strong sense of individuality — offering a fresh alternative in a competitive market.
While Taiwan’s IP industry is still growing, it is gaining momentum quickly. Thanks to the concerted efforts of creators, agencies, and organizations such as TAICCA and TCBLA, there has been a strategic push toward cross-border and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
These strengths are already being recognized. At the recent Taiwan IP Expo in Malaysia, international buyers responded positively to the originality and flexibility of Taiwan’s creative content. With increasing global demand for fresh, cross-cultural, and adaptable IPs, Taiwan Content Island offers a gateway to exactly that — creativity with character, culture, and commercial potential.
