Konami Sets Two Guinness World Records
Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. (KONAMI) announces that the company has just set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament, as well as breaking its own GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest trading card game tournament.
A total of 7,443 participants registered for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Japan TOKYO 2024 (YCSJ TOKYO 2024) event, recognised as a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS achievement for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament*. YCSJ TOKYO 2024 took place across 28-29 April at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center). It was held for the first time as a two-day event to commemorate the 10th YCSJ.
YCSJ TOKYO 2024 saw a final number of 7,443 people taking part in the tournament. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest trading card game tournament** was previously held by KONAMI and the 100th YCS in Long Beach, California, USA, which took place across 23-25 March 2012. Official ceremonies awarding the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS certificates to KONAMI were held at the event, with entrants watching on.
YCSJ TOKYO 2024 also crowned its champion, Yutaro Takahashi. Not only are they the winner of the 10th YCSJ, they’re also the winner of the largest trading card game tournament ever, placing ahead of 7,442 other entrants to claim the title. After winning the 10th YCSJ, Yutaro Takahashi said, “I am happy to be a champion! It was thanks to the practice with my friends whom I met through ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG.’ I will do my best to win the next event as well!”
