The Glastonbury of Mugs!

For the first time ever, the Moomin Shop in Covent Garden, London, will be hosting a special event to celebrate the release of Moomin Arabia’s annual Moomin’s Day mug. Each year, Moomin Arabia designs a limited edition mug to mark Moomin’s Day – the birthday of Finnish writer, artist, and creator of the Moomins, Tove Jansson. This year’s design ties into the 80th anniversary celebrations for the Moomins, taking inspiration from illustrations in the very first story, The Moomins and the Great Flood.

The Moomin’s Day mug first began in 2018, with a beautiful design inspired by a summer night in the archipelago where Tove’s summer home was based. This mug was available to buy for one day only, and sold out completely in a matter of hours with an online queue of tens of thousands of fans. Famously difficult to get a hold of, the Moomin’s Day mugs have become a collector’s dream and a global phenomenon.

To mark the occasion this year, the Moomin Shop will be hosting a Moominous event, where fans will have the chance to grab one of these limited edition mugs.  With each mug purchase on Moomin’s Day, the Moomin Shop will be gifting their exclusive tote bag only available in the Covent Garden store. In addition to the tote bag, the first 300 fans to purchase one of these special Moomin’s Day mugs in store will receive a beautiful Moomin Arabia hand towel. Moomintroll will also be making a special appearance to celebrate with fans.
