Spirit Animation’s Karl goes live

SPIRIT Animation, the award-winning studio behind one of Latin America’s most popular animation franchises, has officially launched its AI agent KARL™ on KEX, the groundbreaking AI agent launchpad built on Saga. With over 1 billion views across streaming platforms, SPIRIT becomes one of the first animation studios to bring its characters and stories into an interactive, next-generation digital environment, creating new ways for fans to engage.

KARL, the strawberry superhero who promotes healthy habits and balanced living, originally rose to fame through his animated series on DISNEY XD Latam and now appears on Amazon Prime, YouTube, PlayKids, and other platforms. This next evolution transforms KARL into an interactive experience, powered by Saga’s scalable infrastructure and hosted on KEX, where his stories and personalities can unfold in real time with persistent memory.

“SPIRIT Animation has always led with heart and innovation. Bringing KARL to this new format is the next natural step,” said Fernando Macedo, Founder of SPIRIT Animation. “With Saga and KEX, we’re bringing our characters to life in new ways—where fans don’t just watch, they participate. Now, audiences can connect with KARL in real time, building deeper, more meaningful experiences than ever before.”

Built on Saga’s horizontally scalable Layer 1 architecture, the KARL AI Agent runs a dedicated chainlet, ensuring responsive interactions, the ability to grow over time, and seamless integration with other experiences. This foundation enables KARL to evolve, while also leveraging persistent memory and agent-level settings to ensure an experience that remains consistent with KARL’s mission to provide positivity and balance.

“SPIRIT is reimagining what entertainment can be when powered by AI agents and programmable IP,” said Rebecca Liao, CEO of Saga. “KARL shows how beloved characters can evolve into interactive personalities without losing the heart that made them resonate in the first place. We’re thrilled to support SPIRIT as they build new experiences that not only entertain but also evolve alongside their audiences.”

SPIRIT Animation’s debut marks a significant milestone for KEX, which is building the world’s first agent-native ecosystem. With KARL, a character already beloved by millions, KEX demonstrates how culturally significant IPs can continue to evolve beyond passive entertainment into dynamic, living experiences that grow with their fans.
