Fred Rogers Productions Partners with The Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates announces a special night of kindness and community at PNC Park as two iconic Pittsburgh brands come together to celebrate the legacy of Fred Rogers, a man whose values inspired generations of families. On Friday, June 27, the Pirates and Pittsburgh-based Fred Rogers Productions will host “A Beautiful Night in the Neighborhood,” a Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood-themed, post-game drone show experience.
“A Beautiful Night in the Neighborhood” promises to be a night unique to our Pittsburgh community, a Mister Rogers-inspired evening highlighted by the largest post-game drone show ever at PNC Park. The light display will be a tribute to the legacy of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, including images of the iconic Mister Rogers alongside characters who were inspired by the series in the first-ever animated spinoff, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Fans will enjoy the unique showcase featuring Daniel Tiger and his pals Katerina Kittycat, O the Owl, and Jodi Platypus.
The show will take place following the final out of the game as the Pirates host the New York Mets at 6:40 p.m. This will be the fifth drone show at PNC Park since 2022 but the first that brings together two great Pittsburgh brands.
“The Pittsburgh community is so connected and supportive of each other in large part because of the impact Fred Rogers had on shaping our values,” said Stephen Perkins, Pirates Executive Vice President of Marketing and Fan Engagement. “The opportunity to partner with Fred Rogers Productions to highlight those values at PNC Park in front of the best fans in baseball is one we could not pass up.”
“We are thrilled to work with the Pittsburgh Pirates on this exciting show that will bring Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood to life for fans in a unique way,” said Matt Shiels, Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Fred Rogers Productions. “The Pirates are a beloved Pittsburgh institution and a natural partner for us to continue to share the legacy of Fred Rogers with the community.”
Fred Rogers legacy is deeply rooted in Pittsburgh and that connection will be on display during the night’s postgame Zambelli drone show that will light up downtown Pittsburgh, thanks to Duquesne Light Company.
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is currently in its seventh season on PBS KIDS. It is produced by Fred Rogers Productions and 9 Story Media Group and animated by 9 Story’s award-winning animation studio, Brown Bag Films. Executive producers are Angela C. Santomero, creator of the series; Ellen Doherty, chief creative officer at Fred Rogers Productions; and Vince Commisso, president & CEO, 9 Story Media Group.
