“The fact that the property’s humor appeals to a broad audience and not just to young kids makes this brand even more appealing.”

A summer 2017 launch is anticipated for the Oddbods toy range in the Philippines, mirroring similar roll-outs in other regions of the world.  Sales figures across Europe have been strong since launch, with particular demand for Oddbods figurines.

Dick and Dom to Deliver Keynote at CMC

The Children’s Media Conference (CMC) has announced that children’s comedy duo Dick and Dom will deliver the Creative Keynote speech at this year’s annual conference, which takes place from 4-6 July in Sheffield.

Taking to the stage on Wednesday 5 July, the award-winning duo will celebrate their 21st anniversary in children’s TV at CBBC, garnering a plethora of BAFTA nominations for their shows, including Dick and Dom in da Bungalow and Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom. Beloved by generations of children, this year’s inaugural double-act promises to deliver playful insight on keeping things fresh, having fun, and engaging young audiences with slime, splat and bogeys.

Greg Childs, Editorial Director at CMC said: “With their two decades of inspiring fun and laughter in children, and their great experience of presenting information in playful ways, Dick and Dom are the perfect duo to present a creative keynote at 2017’s CMC. The keynote is usually one of the most inspiring and talked-about events at the conference, and I have a feeling this year’s going to be no different. I think Dick and Dom will open some hearts and minds at the CMC as to what really connecting with kids is about, and how taking a sidelong look at the adult world and deflating a few of its pomposities will help kids, in worrying times, keep things in perspective.”

Dick and Dom’s keynote comes as part of this year’s wider conference theme of ‘Open’. As the world seems to be closing doors, and minds, the CMC aims to embrace the opposite, with relevant, challenging and inspiring content that showcases and celebrates the diversity of people, ideas and approaches within children’s media.

SolarActive Announces First-Ever Colour Change Technology in UK

SolarActive Europe, a new division of the long-standing US SolarActive International technology company, announces that it will launch the most stabilised and refined UV colour change technology in the UK and Europe throughout 2017 with an initial focus on partnerships in the licensing, toys, apparel and accessories sectors.

Colour change technology has been widely available globally for several years, but with varying degrees of success and a lack in stability of the colour change process and swift fade- back.  SolarActive International has worked on the UV chemical process for more than twenty-five years to produce what is now undoubtedly the most consistent, durable, pure and non-toxic UV colour change technology that can be used across multiple colour-ways and products ranging from textiles and thread, through to plastics and print.

With more than 28 colour changing ink colours that can be used to transpose into new colours through the UV process and technology that is so advanced it can be tailored to match client product and pantone specifications, SolarActive Europe is bringing to market a totally new concept in colour change that reacts to every-day UV light and is so stable that the colour process immediately begins to revert into its original form once out of direct sunlight/UV, but also does not weaken over consistent use.  Not only does today’s technology mean that SolarActive Europe will be able to create product lines that meet ever-changing fashion, lifestyle and entertainment trends, but it will also be working with brands and manufacturers to negate fake goods, with the use of colour change counterfeit thread and print.

Initially the company is looking to launch across a handful of key sectors working closely with both brand owners and licensing companies in dress-up and apparel, fashion accessories, as well as children’s toy areas including art & crafts plus plush.  Throughout April and May the SolarActive Europe team will kick off a number of visits with leading businesses across the UK, demonstrating the technology and how it can be incorporated into both existing and new product ranges – all in time for Autumn-Winter ’17.   The technology capabilities and variety of applications means the technology can be easily incorporated into existing manufacturing processes, with the SolarActive team continually on-hand to provide product support throughout all stages.
